Bragging time: ran the gauntlet

Bragging time: ran the gauntlet

This has probably been done 100 times by Sheik alone, but I recently won my first auto favorite teams league title, giving me a ring in every type of auto league there is!

I made this a goal after my first few rings when I first started playing and it took me a LONG time to get the Favorite Teams (mostly because I stopped playing them in lieu of the fantastic custom Best of the Best leagues).

Here are my number of rings per type:

Deadball: 2
Ruthian: 1
Mid-Century: 4
1970-present: 2
ATG: 6
All Time Japan: 1
1980s: 3
1970s: 2
1990s: 3
2000s: 1
2010s: 3
Random: 1
Favorite Teams: 1
Single Season: 1 (1998)

I’ve also done quick draft, daily, keepers and no keepers, but obviously not all the different for every player pool.

Anyways- what a great game! Thanks, Gbacci!

Re: Bragging time: ran the gauntlet

Actually, I haven't won in all those categories. The ones I'm missing are:
70's
90's
2000's
2010's

single seasons I've won are: 2009, 2010,2011,2012,2013.2014,2015,2016,2017,2018,2020. No 2019 because I was so mad about the Dodgers getting upset by the Nats that I refused to play the season (I know, dumb)

Of the rings I've won (537) it's been mostly Fav Teams, ATG, Deadball and Ruthian.

I salute you sir, it's an achievement to be proud of !!

Re: Re: Bragging time: ran the gauntlet

I have never played a single season league, but have won all the other types of leagues at least once, and recently won a Fav Teams with the Marlins, which meant I have won a Fav Team with all 30 teams at least once.

Have to try individual seasons next.

Re: Bragging time: ran the gauntlet

Rev you pulled off the Jayslater plan?! That's awesome man!

Re: Re: Bragging time: ran the gauntlet

The JaySlater plan? lol

Re: Bragging time: ran the gauntlet

If you're not already aware, Jayslater was an extremely dedicated user who disappeared a short while back, but he made it known that getting a ring with all 30 clubs in fav teams leagues was his main goal at the time, other than running his own set of leagues as a commish. He fell shy by only 2 teams (if I recall correctly) before his departure

Rev has now beat him to the feat lol

Re: Re: Bragging time: ran the gauntlet

I think he had one team left. I could be wrong. Either way an impressive feat.
I don't do as many auto and mainly Fave teams. I think I have 4 or five so far. So Duke, hats off to you.
I am now starting to branch out into other auto leagues. There are som pros there.
Well done by everyone listed above!

Re: Bragging time: ran the gauntlet

Congrats to both Josh and Duke! Those are impressive accomplishments. Especially considering that some league formats better align with your style of play. I think most on this site can agree that certain league formats are either more interesting/fun or "easier" for us to be successful in. The fact that you both stuck it out to grind through each of those leagues or teams is something to definitely be proud of. KUDOS!

Re: Re: Bragging time: ran the gauntlet

I don’t see “a Gus League” on some of these lists. 😂🤣😂
But I will say “well done!! Very impressive!”

Re: Bragging time: ran the gauntlet

That is why I joined so many "Gus leagues" in recent seasons, because it is such a HIGH honor to win one, felt I needed it to be complete. Some season I may get lucky, we'll see.

Re: Re: Bragging time: ran the gauntlet

I’m aware who JaySlater is. I gave him his first commish job back in the day. I just thought it was funny. Pretty sure he wasn’t the first to try to win with all teams.

Re: Bragging time: ran the gauntlet

I didn't know that about you giving him his first commish gig, but I did figure you did know who he is. I just added the explanation as a precaution lol

And while I do think he wasn't the first to chase it, he was the first one I remember putting it out there publicly that he was chasing the goal

Re: Re: Bragging time: ran the gauntlet

Yep. I gave him MLB Experiment. Ran it into the ground with crazy stats. Just like the dWAR Room league. I think you might have been in both leagues.

Re: Bragging time: ran the gauntlet

I’ve never been in a “Gus league”. Is he a good commish?

Re: Bragging time: ran the gauntlet

Not sure about the dWar one but I was definitely in MLB Experiment. Was there for only one single season before it stalled, which to this day appears to be the final nail in the coffin for the league

Now as for the "Gus Leagues", I, like many others I'm sure, would ABSOLUTELY vouch for him. As far as I'm concerned, there's been nothing but praise that should go his way, as he runs quite a few fantastic leagues. I had to leave a few of them recently but it had nothing to do with the league, it was something irl that made me leave them, and other leagues too

The most noteworthy ones I want to mention are:
All Yankees League (as a Yankees fan how could I not? Lol)
Legendary Losers
MLB Classic Rewind (both LL and MLBCR were formerly run by Steelerbus but when he had to step back himself he handed them over to Gus)

And last but CERTAINLY not least, the Bad News Bears League, which if you ever experience that league, it would speak for itself lmao

Re: Re: Bragging time: ran the gauntlet

Cross 2010's off my list !!

Auto League Trophy Case
High Desert Rocket Dogs
Best of 2010s

Re: Bragging time: ran the gauntlet

In compiling my records I realized that Ruthian seems the biggest challenge for me. I only have one title and I know I played many teams (vs 1 title themes like Japan where I only played once).

It makes sense as my teams tend to be pitching, D, and speed focused and that’s not a feature of the Ruthian player pool!

So, I’ve taken the challenge to win another: joined Ruthian auto 420- Chocolate Babkas

Off to a solid 8-3 start.
