Pitcher rest in playoffs

Pitcher rest in playoffs

Quick question about how pitcher rest works in the playoffs. I've made it to the world series after winning the previous round in six games. My opponent won his round in five games. All of his pitchers are healthy and the pitcher who pitched game five for him is starting game one of the series. The pitcher who started game five of the previous series for me still needs one day of rest. Seems odd that they would need a different number of off days to get rested. Is it because I was still playing? Do pitchers get more rest if their team doesn't play? Thanks everyone.

Re: Pitcher rest in playoffs

Because your team played 1 more game - you need one more day to get your team rested up- there are 2 games off prior to the start of the series, so if your #1 pitched game 5 and you ended up winning that series 4-1 - he still needs two days rest

Re: Re: Pitcher rest in playoffs

Thanks for the reply Sim. My number one pitcher pitched game five but I won in six games 4-2. So he had one day off (game 6) then the two off days that both teams had. That makes sense to me that he would need one more day off to be healthy since he's only had three days off. However, my opponents #1 pitcher pitched game five of his series and then rested one day while I played game 6 and then had the two days off. He's only had three days off so shouldn't he need one more days rest also? At the moment, I've got my number 3 pitcher starting game 1 of the world series and he has his number 1.
