Losing streak

Losing streak

4/5 way thru season with no LESS then 60% win pct whole way (79W/49L) go on 10 game losing streak. Fall from 1st overall to 3rd in division. Doesn’t make sense when your leading overall and even the worst team has not gone on a 10 game losing streak. A 60% team should not lose 10 in a row as a 40% team should not win 10 in a row. Happen to anyone else? Gotta love it

Re: Losing streak

Try the 1969 Chicago Cubs (real life), Sept 2nd 84-52, 5 games up in 1st. Then go 1 -11, to 85-63 by Sept 16th 4 1/2 back........ I am still not over it. :)

Re: Re: Losing streak

right after a black cat ran in front of their dugout

Re: Losing streak

I also hate black cats. :)

Re: Re: Losing streak

How about the 1978 Red Sox? led the Division by 14 Games on 7/17/78 lost the Division in a tie Breaker game -- it happens -

Re: Losing streak

Try this one my team had 118 win season. Meet an 86 win team in the finals. and go up 3-1. Two games later we go the 7th game.

Up by 6 runs with 2 outs in the 9th when: a ton of walks, a few errors, HBP and a couple of hits later - LOSE. At that point, I had been in about 20 playoffs and no rings - despite running away with a number of best records.

Bitter? No but still think something fishy about it all.

Re: Re: Losing streak

I just looked at his team The Harrisburg Lookouts- Not for nothing but they are only an AVERAGE team for that League- AND its a pretty competitive League as well,

I'm thinking the Hot start was as much of a fluke as the losing streak.

Re: Re: Losing streak

That's a brutal loss. Hopefully, over time, you'll catch the other side of that and win one that you were losing by a big margin.

Re: Losing streak

I had a championship team start a season 0-11. They won 108 games. Games were not the close either in the beginning. It was my first team in over a 18 months too. Thought I had lost touch with the game haha

Re: Re: Losing streak

Everyone has stories like this. Gotta remember nearly 1000 leagues are simulating every day on this site. That's the equivalent of nearly five centuries of MLB simulating about every two months. So you're going to see anything and everything happen. It feels like it is happening "too often" but you have to remember we basically replicate the sample size of the entire history of baseball nearly five times over in 2-3 months.

Re: Losing streak

Great perspective. Incredible numbers.

Thanks for a great site gbacci!
