JR Richard passes away

JR Richard passes away

JR Richard was probably one of the most dominant pitcher to step foot on a baseball mound.

One of the biggest what if to ever step foot on a mound...

The 2021 prototype pitcher, but pitching in the 70's...
a 6-8, 220 lbs flame thrower..
Is final season was 10-4, 1,90 ERA, 5,1 h per 9, 9,4 k per 9...

If I have to build a team with the best non hall of famers... he probably would be the Ace of the pitching staff...

Re: JR Richard passes away

I’ll take Roger Clemens

Richard although physically imposing, led the league in walks a bunch of times.

Re: Re: JR Richard passes away

He would have had a great carreer had he not suffered a stroke. I remember watching him he was scary. We can only wonder how good the astro's would have been with him and Ryan both in their prime.

Re: Re: JR Richard passes away

Yeah, Randy Johnson also did led leagues for walks couple of times...
As far as Roger Clemens....he has the stats credential for the Hall of Fame were Richard doesn't...

So Clemens was not even close from being considered unless asterix ar e needed********

Re: JR Richard passes away

Sometimes being a bit " Wild" is a good thing, prevents batters from digging in and swinging from the heels with no fear.

The thought that a slightly wild pitcher might uncork a 95 MPH that runs inside will keep you on your toes and make a hitter a little less comfortable in the batters Box

Re: Re: JR Richard passes away

Worked for Nolan Ryan

A pretty intimidating 1-2 punch for the tequila sunrise Astros

Probably the most intimidating 1-2 ever

Re: JR Richard passes away

unfortunately 1980 was their only season together and he wasnt pitching in the lcs vs the phillies.
