A tidbit of History

A tidbit of History

In 1917 Pitcher Ernie Shore threw a 9 inning complete game facing 27 batters and not allowing a base runner yet was only credited with a combined No Hitter.

Babe Ruth started the game and walked the 1st batter, he was incensed at the call and argued with the umpire and subsequently punched him and was ejected.

Re: Re: A tidbit of History

it's not a perfect game, a batter walked, makes perfect sense

Re: A tidbit of History

same situation as harvey haddix, he pitched 9 perfect innings but gave up a hit in extra innings. his perfect game was ended by an error in the bottom of the 13th. after intentinally walking hank aaron, joe adcock hit a 3run homer, however hank aaron saw mantilla score and thought the game was over and was passed by adcock, so the game ended up 1-0 and adcock was credited with a double. it was considered a 9 inning nono until 1991 when mlb changed the definition

Re: Re: A tidbit of History

Baseball is tougher than people think!

In what has to be one of the most painful injuries a player could sustain, Diamondbacks catcher Chris Snyder took a foul tip off the bat of Corey Hart to the testicles, fracturing one of them.

Ouch.

Athletics catcher Doc Powers initially sustained his injury while slamming into a wall as he chased after a foul ball.

Internal bleeding was just one of the internal issues that ensued, ultimately requiring Powers to undergo multiple surgeries that would end up coming up short as he would lose his life less than a month after the injury.

Re: A tidbit of History

have you ever seen the picture of jason kendalls ankle coming out of his sock as he stepped on 1st awkwardly, not for the squeemish

Re: Re: A tidbit of History

The Robin Ventura one was really bad too, another bad one was Don Slaught taking an Oil Can Boyd Fastball to the face.

But Ya the Jason Kendall one was UGLY that hurt to LOOK AT

Re: A tidbit of History

hockey injuries are the worst. cant remember the goalies name but there was a guywho got knocked over in front of the goalie and his skate sliced the goalies neck. he almost died on the ice, if youve ever been to a game live and seen how fast the puck is or how often guys skates come up its amazing someone isnt killed

Re: A tidbit of History

i was watching that game live. i live near seattloe, been waiting 40 yrs for pro team , release the Kraken !!!

Re: Re: A tidbit of History

The Kraken have a good team assembled; I'm a little excited (and a lot scared, as a Ducks fan) to see who they take in the expansion draft.

Re: A tidbit of History

watch the video seattle unveils team name. however they have the worst arena name their renaming key arena to climate change arena

Re: Re: A tidbit of History

i'm probably in the minority but i'd love to see gbacci develop a hockey sim

Re: A tidbit of History

Would love, love, love a hockey sim.

Re: A tidbit of History

I'd definitely prefer a footbal sim first. I am also a kraken and seahawks fan!!!

Re: Re: A tidbit of History

glad I started this post, lots of just good sports talk, we all need a nice diversion right now.

Re: A tidbit of History

i think hockey would be easier than a football sim due to the sheer amt of code it would take to have 50 plus players and countless plays etc for football. i just hope that next october when the kraken start , fans will be allowed. once again props to gbacci for all the time and effort he's put into this great game

Re: Re: A tidbit of History

Yes, bacci is the best!
