Hall of Fame

Hall of Fame

Jeter and Walker made it.

Re: Hall of Fame

Hurray for Walker, and LOL, Jeter missed unanimous by 1 vote. He's a good offensive shortstop and is HOF worthy, but if players as good as Ruth, Seaver, Koufax, and Randy Johnson aren't unanimous, no way Jeter should be.

Re: Hall of Fame

Agreed. Although yes Jeter is absolutely Hall material, I dont believe he is unanimous induction worthy. Rivera in the other hand, to me, makes perfect sense as a unanimous induction. Almost his entire career he was both the most praised yet most feared Closer in the entire game. And the fact that he frequently able to go 2 innings in that capacity is especially noteworthy since the majority of baseball had already begun its notorious pitcher conserving methods well before that. Kudos to Walker as well, as I do believe he's earned his place among the greats

Re: Re: Hall of Fame

From a lifelong Expos fan: sorry, Larry Walker does not @#$%ing belong in the Hall of Fame. He's one of the all-time greats? Really? Come on now.

Re: Hall of Fame

I completely understand that he can't be compare to Babe Ruth... but from the 80's, 90's and 2000's... if I have to pick 1 right fielder to build my team.... well Larry Walker is my pick... slightly ahead of Vlad.... is 7 gold gloves combine with is offensive numbers are quite unpair... here in Montreal, I just saw shade of Walker's potential...his emergence clearly started in the 1994 strike season... He wen't to Colorado and litteraly put that team on the baseeball map... 15th all time career OPS, just couple of digits behind Musial, Dimaggio, Thomas and Mantle... If his entry to the HOF was denied, he would be quite the lonesom comboy on that OPS leaders list...

Re: Re: Hall of Fame

Not to mention he has like twice as many WAR as almost every other pure reliever (Eckersley doesn't count) in the HOF

Re: Hall of Fame

Hall of Fame they need to change the name to Hall of Pretty Good. Walker NO! Jeter was a product of staying health for all those years in a dominate lineup. Hell he wasn't even the best SS on the roster for many of those years. Even bigger joke is Omar Vizquel got like 52% of the vote and continues to climb when he should have been off after the 1st time.

Re: Re: Hall of Fame

Almost forgot that Ted Simmons! Ted Simmons! Is now in also! Must have been a different Ted Simmons than I saw play! Rediculous.

Re: Hall of Fame

Ted Simmons? really?
longevity, yes,
Catcher who could run a bit, yes
ever the dominant catcher in MLB even 1 year out of 20?- NO

HOF not even really close - if Ted Simmons is in the HOF and Luis Tiant is not, something is wrong

Re: Re: Hall of Fame

agree 100% on El Tiante (and Steve Garvey, and Gil Hodges, and Dave Parker, and...)

meanwhile Harold Baines and Don Sutton are in

Hall voting is a joke

Re: Re: Hall of Fame

Larry Walker was pretty good, but no way a HoF'er.
Just further proof we are too interested in inclusion rather than the exclusivity of the Hall. A watered down Hall will become no Hall at all.
