Re: Re: 2020 Relievers in Favorite Team

Re: Re: 2020 Relievers in Favorite Team

I take it the end result of this situation is: People can game the system by choosing a 2020 team and have SP as RP?

Re: 2020 Relievers in Favorite Team

It's not what I would call "gaming the game" - same rules apply to ANY season where a SP didn't throw 85 innings.

Re: Re: 2020 Relievers in Favorite Team

Yes, The same stats and rules apply to us all. 2020 has been a crap show. But at least we had some baseball for our entertainment. (They should have allowed some fans in every stadium like football).
Football hasn't missed a game in 14 weeks. Rescheduling but they have done it. Hoops and hockey ran successful playoffs. It was all very different yes, but didn't we enjoy the games? I did.
So I think we just have to deal with the 2020 PC world as it is. We'll get more in 2021 and maybe then can have a 2020/2021 hybrid season when its over and use them combined somehow?
Wow, sorry. Too much caffeine this morning. Ha. Merry Christmas everyone. Peace

Re: 2020 Relievers in Favorite Team

Got it. OK. I understand that this is the least of the 2020 problems going on in the world! I am not looking forward to my Favorite Team facing a bullpen that includes starters like Kershaw, Buehler, etc., but I'll survive.

Re: Re: 2020 Relievers in Favorite Team

I don't see having starters in the bullpen as an advantage. Starters are great because they can give you 7+ innings of very good numbers. The elite bullpen arms make those starters look mediocre (in short stints). You can have your 1.05 WHIP, 9.5 K/9 starters in the bullpen, I'll take the 0.82 WHIP, 14.1 K/9 bullpen aces instead.

Re: 2020 Relievers in Favorite Team

What some aren't seeing is :
They're 40 Stamina RP...gives you more depth per game.
They can be used as 'Openers' via 'Change Role'.
Using 2020 will end up being what gets me my Fave Teams Brewers ring, telling ya.
A team like Tampa Bay. Or LA Dodgers, or maybe the BEST example, Cleveland is another team I love beating opponents to death with soooooooooo much quality pitching. Combine four seasons of 1968, 2016-2020, and you can have dominant openers, killer '68 SP, plus a Kluber and an Andrew Miller, and you can still use Bieber, Clevenger, Civale as you wish....

Re: 2020 Relievers in Favorite Team

But 2020 Dodgers can give you bullpen of Kershaw (.84...9.6), Gonsolin (.85...9.0), Buehler (.97...10.4). Maybe not super-super-elite RP numbers, but super-elite. ... We'll see how it plays out. Will add to the intrigue.

Re: 2020 Relievers in Favorite Teams Le

I honestly didn’t look at their numbers, that is better than I was guessing they’d be. Either way I wasn’t saying they wouldn’t be good, I was just saying it wouldn’t be “unfair”. The 2016 Cubs have three pen guys that go 0.81/13.0, 0.86/14.0, 0.89/11.5, plus other useful pieces. I have a Rays Auto league team right now that has 5 pen guys between 0.83 and 0.98 WHIP, all but one of them between 10.4 and 12.3 K/9, plus several other pen guys with crazy good numbers. To me, whatever advantage you might gain with pen arms from 2020 is likely to be equally offset by the disadvantage of having no useable SP from that year.
