trading

i am so sick of people trying to give me 3 players for 1 i am about to never look at a trade again. lets try to be fair and help both teams needs if you give up 3 players to 1 its a rip off we all no it

Re: trading

Nycubs?

Re: trading

Haha. Do they at least make a case as to why it would help your team?

3 for 1's are tough. I've pulled off 2-for-1's and 1-for-2's, but it almost always revolves around Starting Pitching. If my 6th SP would start for the other team, I can send my 5th and 6th for a SP slightly better than the 5th starter I'm sending. Key word there is "slightly."

I think I've done the reverse on OF's. Taken someone's 3/4 OF's who would both start for me... for a slight upgrade over the #3 they're sending.

But even then... I STILL often add a 4th player to the trade just to keep the positions equal... helps the acceptance rate go way up.

Re: Re: trading

you, Sanfranman, think I the only one, give me a freakin break. Guy you responding to, we get along fine.I also noticed you like to do 3-2, 2-1. You dont like it block me

Re: trading

All i ask in a trade is to look at the other teams needs. try to make a trade that helps both teams.and act like the other owner has some brains.you disrespect everyone with the trades you offer nycubsfan you deserve to be called out

Re: Re: trading

I deal , quite frequently , with NYCF and he has always been fair. I have an almost compulsive need to get certain players for the style of ball I want my teams to play ; he's always willing to barter and he " same day " replies every time. I think a lot of it has to do with knowing how to apply a player's strengths to a specific situation that may exist on a team. Honestly , who is going to be gullible enough to get sucked into a Babe Ruth for Darin Ersted trade (for example); unless , you REALLY have a pressing urge to experiment with a lockdown defensive player ? You can always counter-offer or refuse !!

Re: trading

REFUSED!!!

Re: trading

*sighs, and shakes head*

If this keeps going, an already tense situation will likely become worse... 😕

Re: trading

Just saw your reply and thank you. I feel like I have gotten a bad rap because I offer many trades. I have been accused of taking advantage of new owners. I have never looked at a owners record before a trade EVER! I enjoy tinkering with my roster, why not. My feeling is someone or myself does not like offer just hit decline button.

Thanks buddy and I always will get back to you on any offers!

Re: Re: trading

I prefer to receive any offer over no offer - inactivity stinks. I understand that people are accustomed to negotiation so any offer can always be countered with explanation. Also, sometimes people misunderstand what the other team is looking for. I will admit that it is frustrating to receive an offer you think is lopsided, then find that the person is not willing to negotiate at all. It's got to be a win-win in the end.

Re: trading

This Sanfram is really annoying across the board. All he does is whine and in this case, try to start trouble.

Re: Re: trading

LOL , I'm a natural tinkerer !! I guess it takes one to understand one , right ?!!

Re: trading

I like to propose and make trades a lot as well, and sometimes there IS value in a 2-for-1 or 3-for-1 deal, especially if the deal is helping a team get players at a position of need.

I also agree that it can be very frustrating trading, as some guys just won't negotiate, or the ones that never reply to you. Has there ever been a discussion as to "correct trade ettiquette" More along the lines of knowing that your request was at least seen ??

Re: Re: trading

Wacky trade proposals are fine, as long as lopsided trade proposals aren't directed at someone who is new to the game.

When starting trade talks you should always ask for more than you think the other person is willing to give. That's just a solid, smart negotiation strategy.

Calling a guy out for giving lousy trade proposals is, also, part of the game. Some of the most entertaining back-and-forth happens when someone thinks they offered a good deal that is, in fact, a dried hunk of dung with a bow on it.

Re: trading

I got a trade offer of 8 players for 1 LOL

Re: trading

I don't mind someone thinking an offer I made was "terrible". I put a lot of thought in it and maybe my values differ from the other guy. Thats all well and good. But when a guy says the offer was "insulting", well you've just shown how sensitive you are and that owner need not worry of seeng any more offers from me.

Re: Re: trading

I had one owner who was interested in one of my payers make me an offer. I declined and gave the reason why. The main one is I really liked my player.
Well, he messaged me back " You know, it is ok to make a counter offer"
LOL. I wasn't looking to move. So I replied " I didn't know I was under any obligation to counter when I decline. I gave my reason for declining and thought that was enough to fulfill my courteous declination".
Guess not, he blocked me after that! LOL

Re: trading

*shrugs*

Guess the other person really wanted him too and didn't like being denied...

Re: Re: trading

All I do is whine???. You sound stupid to be honest. After I read your unsupported claim, I looked back at my posts. The ONLY one that has any resemblance of a whine, is when I complained about losing to filler teams. Get your facts straight boy. I realize my user name is awesome and gets in your head, but I've always been cordial and respectful on the boards----aside of the brief beef with cubsfan. Go Niners ****

Re: trading

Oh boy... Not again 😩

This will end badly, I can see it now...

Re: trading

Think that is why we get along so well, we like to tinker.
