Another mess up

Another mess up

https://www.pennantchase.com/lgBoxS..
Bob Gibson is my #1 , Why is he pitching in game 5? I had a sacrificial lamb awaiting for game 5 in Sparks Tully, because after game 5 i was going to bring up from the minors the 2 SP's I picked up in supplemental draft. WHY did Gibson pitch on 4 days rest? Why didn't Tully pitch this game. Yes he pitched in the game before because I was sacrificing games 4 & 5 to get my now SP rotation set up, which it's now a mess until game 11 comes around. In the game before where Tully pitched 2/3s of an inning I used 3 of the 5 RP. Why didn't it use the other 2 first? All in all my rotation is a total mess because of this stupidity. If pitching 2/3's of an inning means you are out for 2 games, then how can RP pitch 2-3-4-5- games in a row?

Re: Another mess up

If your #1 is rested, he is the default SP, so if Gibson was in your rotaion, and was the highest ranked rested SP, he would be pitching.

Re: Re: Another mess up

I agree there Shiek, however Gibson did start game 1 - he should not have been able to start again until game 6 - and Cubanlou has other starters ( Jake Arrieta) who were rested - although it is impossible to tell whether Arrieta was in the minors and just brought up - if so then YES Gibson would start on short rest, and probably get hit and lose
(which he did)

Re: Another mess up

SPs automatically miss more games if they pitch at all, but that's because the assumption is they were starting the game. I can check the logic and see if it can be adjusted for an SP who comes into a game in a RP situation.

Another problem here is the inability to add more RPs due to the drops not opening up until Game 6. The ideal state is that you have more RPs so the SP doesn't have to enter the game in that situation. If he had to pitch a little bit more, he's going to be out the next game anyway and still mess up the rotation.

Re: Re: Another mess up

SPs in relief don’t always miss next game, but yeah, if they throw decent amount of pitches they are out 2-4, as expected

Re: Another mess up

After game 5 I brought Arrieta and Santana up from the minor because I been screwed to many time with the game bringing in SP who I didn't want to pitch until after game 5. In the game Tully pitch in relief, I had 2 RP who didn't pitch. So now my SP pitching rotation won't be where I would like it until after game 10 because now Gibson is in the minors, so he won't get used again, and I'm only sacrificing one game in the 5 or game 10 this round.

Here's an easy and logical fix for the game. After the Supplemental Draft, give all SP a fresh slate on rest , then the rotation can be set without being forced to pitch some terrible SP for a game or 2. I mean let's be real here, no one in their right mind is going to use Sparks Tully in their rotation unless they are forced to, and this relates back to the redraft of lousy SP.

Re: Re: Another mess up

If the first six games of the season are that crucial to your success, you've got bigger problems. If this had happened durring the LAST 6 games of a tight pennant race, then yeah, big problem.

Re: Another mess up

It happens early season sometimes because all SPs are rested so if you have a game early that uses up a lot of pen, back end SPs end up in games. It doesnt happen often during season otherwise because the other 4 SPs need rest, so never come in out of turn. Some keep an extra SP on the roster early just in case.
