Save?

Save?

Wouldn't getting the last 2 outs of a 5-2 game be considered a Save?

Re: Save?

Not if there was no one on base when the finishing pitcher entered the game.

To be a save, a pitcher has to finish a winning game, not get the win, and one of three criteria has to be met:
A) pitcher enters the game with a 3 run or fewer lead and pitches at least one inning

B) pitcher enters the game with the tying run on deck

C) pitcher pitches 3+ innings

Re: Re: Save?

Agree. Although I believe your criteria B) should include having the tying run at the plate or on base

Re: Save?

Whoa, woodies?
Haven't seen that name since maybe college baseball 8 years ago.... good to see a legend return.
