I understand that D* means number of hits taken away. I don't understand what flavor of hits. Would they have been singles otherwise? Home runs (b/c that would make sense for infielders :) )? Or are they just generalized "hits" that would have formed into x% singles, y% doubles, etc., if my players hadn't snagged them beforehand? I have waved hands at the issue for too long, and I need to bear down and study the specifics (if there are any).

Carl
I didn't know of a "previous thread." I'd consider following a link in this instance. :)
Thanks for reminding me that patience matters. I cannot stand not winning immediately, even when taking over a .200 team (the smoking husk of 1967 CLE in one of my leagues) or accepting a new expansion team (1993 COL in another). I don't mind losing for a season or three in OOTP, e.g., but for some reason, I cannot suffer to sit still in Pennant Chase.
Thanks for the tips. (But I still reserve the right to make rookie mistakes. :) )
Regards,
Carl
How does D* "take away hits"?

Re: How does D* "take away hits"?
I think this has been discussed previously (recently) on the boards and it's the latter (distribution of hits), from which it follows that catchers can save homeruns. @GusPC13 , would you like to simulate an announcer call again for that one?

Not sure if you didn't read the past thread of your inquiry or just didn't like the responses.
you say"I have waved hands at the issue for too long, and I need to bear down and study the specifics (if there are any)."
You have been in approximately 130 auto games and 180 custom games. Your hand waving cant have been "far too long". :-)
