My Post about DWar

My Post about DWar

I had a few owners privately e-mail me and request I not make posts explaining the effect of defense, they feel owners should figure it out themselves and that disseminating that kind of information reduces their edge from experience.

I get it, knowledge is power, but if we want to grow PC we need to make sure new players have a chance to compete.

What PC needs is a more in depth starter package, lets keep new players interested, grow the site, its a great casual distraction or obsession, what ever you want to make of it, but with sports betting being legal, the interest in fantasy sports has never been greater, and its growing, people want that year round activity.

Re: My Post about DWar

The people who messaged you that are wrong.

Re: Re: My Post about DWar

Ill concur w Yankee. It helps grow the community when you spread information. It only makes competition better.

Re: My Post about DWar

Don't get me wrong, no one was rude, it was more like " Don't share all the secrets" so its cool. I just wanted to know what the Board posters thought, if new guys aren't reading the boards, they don't even see it, which is why I suggested a more in depth primer.

Re: Re: My Post about DWar

Definitely share information.

I remember trading for a guy because he had a low ERA only to be told that ERA didn't matter. That embarrassed the heck outta me.

Re: My Post about DWar

On a similar topic, iam many yrsfrom playing close enough attention to formulas. Is there information anyone can share on the drop off expected for playing a player at his backup position, 3b in this case?

Re: Re: My Post about DWar

To use an example, lets say you have a 2b(3b) guy who has a .970 fielding pct and a 1.00 dWAR. His fielding pct whould drop to .920 and his dWAR stays the same.

Re: My Post about DWar

Sorry to keep this off topic but I have a follow up question for Sheik.

Does the fielding % drop off that much when if the position is SS/If?

Re: Re: My Post about DWar

Yes. Its a .050 drop for any secondary position.

Re: My Post about DWar

Wow, ok that is a huge drop. Thanks for the reply Jay.

Re: Re: My Post about DWar

Eh, its the difference between booting 1 or 2 more balls every 100 chances, really. In some positions, that's worth the tradeoff.. In others, that's an additional 10-15 errors a year.
