I watched the game last night - 40/40 walk-off Grand Slam, fastest in history, by far, to get to 40/40. On a pace for 50/50. And the Dodgers need these games !!

When Ohtani came up in the 9th with the bases loaded I called my family into the room and said everyone watch this, Ohtani's going to make history. Then he did! What a magical moment.

That's a special section the Dodgers created along the inside of the fence called the "Home Run Seats" - and the guy's sitting there, prepared, with a glove - and he bats the ball back onto the field !!! A total choke job.

That ball would fetch a mill easy , Babe ruth uni from his called shot game up for auction today , already at 17 mil and climbing. Whats really ironic is that the A's fan did something that defies odds but has 3 balls worth what it costs to make them.

As great of a batter he is , if you're the Dodgers , do you try to convince him to give up pitching ? He's been injured twice and he put a lot of innings on his arm as a teen in Japan.

I'm sure that part of the agreement between the Dodgers and Ohtani was that he could continue to pitch. It's his decision. I can tell you that all indications from the Dodger Broadcast and studio team and anyone who cares to comment on it is that he's ramping up to pitch in '25.

Add to the fact that you could sub him in and out of the of or 1b for lefty righty advantages , althogh i dont think he's hardly ever played the field. In fact i just looked it up he's played only 16.2 innings in the field other than pitcher.

Ohtani's time playing in the field was pre-Ohtani Rule - if the Angels removed him from pitching in the game, they would move him to the OF and vacate the DH. Now pitchers who hit are allowed to remain as the DH if removed from pitching.

As of last night's game, 47/48. He hit a 118 MPH line drive into the RF pavilion leading off the game for the Dodgers - it was in the seats almost before he could take off for 1B.

He is now 2nd in the majors in both homers and sb's. The last player to finish a season at least 2nd in both was Ty Cobb in 1911, over 100 years ago !!! Ty was on fire that year and hit a whopping 8 homers !!

Ohtani might be the Most Outstanding Player but Bobby Witt Jr. is the Most Valuable Player. Defense counts. As great as Ohtani is I dont think he would be stealing this many bases if he was pitching. It is to his credit though he has made base stealing so important and that he is so efficient at it when he knows he isnt pitching.

Great improvement by them but here's my biggest ?. How do the WhiteSox go from winning the division in 2021 with a 93-69 record to possibly the worst record in history post 1901 ? At least the Mets had the excuse of being an expansion team.

As a said KC fan I have watched most of their games vs Chicago. They weren't even competitive. Bad D. Bad hitting. Bad everything. sad.

As a White Sox fan it’s hard to even talk about but some of the numbers behind their badness are totally wild. They are something like 0-90 when trailing after the 7th. They just won their first series since like July. They hit 33 wins in September while Cleveland had 33 wins by mid May!

That may be the greatest game ever played. 10 RBI as a DH and the stolen bases. 3rd base being one of them. Shawn Green had a 6-6 with 4 homers. But the 2 SB and the two doubles is crazy.
Oh yea. He is throwing great bullpens. With sliders and splitters. A year to the day after his surgery. Is this guy even human?

This stat really puts his season into perspective. Before this year , the most stolen bases by a member of the 50 homer club was Arod and Willie Mays both with 24.

He was thrown out trying to stretch one of the doubles to a triple or he would have also had a cycle !!

Probably the greatest reg season performance ever but Reggies 3 homers off 3 diff pitches on the 1st pitch in the world series meant more. As usual , I'll be rooting for LA now the M's are done , can't wait to see what Shohei does in postseason !!

Kind of overlooked in Shohei's MVP season is what Elly DeLaCruz has done.He is only the 3rd player in the modern era to have 100 sb's or more in his 1st 2 seasons , trailing only Rickey and Vince Coleman.. Now if he can only cut down on his way too high k totals. A good bet for 30-30 , 40-40 if he does. Looks like we're in another golden age of great young SS's like the 90's with Arod , Jeter and Nomar.

The Babe Ruth jersey just went for 24 mill so you gotta figure maybe 8-10 mill for this ? A rookie Wilt Chamberlin card just sold for 1.7 mill so for Shohei somewhere in the middle imo.

Ohtani becomes the 1st player since 2001 to have 400 total bases in a season - those players in 2001 were Bonds and Sosa (steroids) L. Gonzalez (steroids?) and Helton (clean). Only 18 players in MLB history have reached that mark.

Yeah jimgriddy - that WC in the NL is a hot mess. There's a 3 way tie as of this morning between the Mets, Braves and DBacks. Padres clinched yesterday. It looks like no matter what happens the next 2 days, the Mets and Braves will have to at least play one game of the double header that's scheduled.
