Cant get enough of those cheaters..

Cant get enough of those cheaters..

I tell ya, for all the b*tching about them cheating, owners sure love using those juiced up numbers...case in point,,

Still chasing a ring with 3 franchises in Fave Teams Autos..Here we have my K.C. Royals losing in 5 AND THREE ASTRO TEAMS in the Playoffs. Way to mix it up guys ! ;)

Re: Re: Cant get enough of those cheate

Can we have a league where others assign us teams so they can meet their personal goals instead of us meeting our own?

I think that is in the spirit of PC.

Re: Cant get enough of those cheate

How dare people use a powerful combination of team years?!?! Do they not know that life is supposed to be a challenge?!?! That one is supposed to strive, and face adversity, so that the ultimate victory is that much sweeter?

Why, when I have the choice of drafting Pedro Martinez or a comparably strong player in an ATG League, I NEVER select them! It's not sporting!

All you quivering, gelatinous "men" (and one or two women) run to your stale OP builds. Jay and I will be blazing trails of excellence that few of you mountebanks will be able to follow.

Re: Re: Cant get enough of those cheate

Omg.... Perhaps I framed it wrong...
Lets simplify----
1. Boards littered with tons of "Astros/Cheating/Scandal" posts and comments.
2. This year's "Red Sox" is the Astros. Making up 2-3 franchises in just about EVERY Fave Team league...
3. I'm not nearly as concerned for moi..I'll be fine and will meet my goal sooner or later. But I can't tell you how many times I see a new PC'er select a franchise in Fave Teams, especially 1871-present and can guarantee their quick descent to the basement. You click on them, and sure enough that's their favorite club. Poor bastards.
4. As Sheik said, even the owner who the "4-league w same franchise' max/No Spamming" rule was created for, Mr. 1888-1894-2007-2011 Phillies in 25 leagues at once is using them..its not challenging yourself whatsoever. I'll (there are others, thank God) continue to get creative with builds and try new things, while others build the same damn obvious combination as 500 other owners before them. Have fun.
5. Too much of that stales the concept, don't you think? Raging, what makes the BOTB series so much fun and so challenging?

I can only be me, and speak from the first person narrative of "me". I'm offering observations through MY eyes. You guys have a tendency of somehow confusing that with some "all about me" mantra that I think is b.s. I love the format. I think tweaks would make it more fun and interesting. I was pointing out the "which one of these things is not like the other"ness of a damn Royals squad in FT-Auto playoffs with THREE freaking Astros squads. I'm not crying foul or unfair. In just pointing out the humor in 300 "Fk the Astros" comments mixed in with 300 stale ring attempts. It's a tad ironic.

Re: Re: Cant get enough of those cheate

One thing I have noticed since San Francisco, Boston, and Chicago (NL) were limited to 3 years in fav teams 1871-present setups, and San Francisco and Boston in 1965-present setups as well, is a significant decrease in teams with those franchises over the last 5 years or so (compared to what they were before that). Limiting those teams created a lot of parity in fav teams since they were so OP with 4 seasons. Maybe Houston (1871-pres.) and Philadelphia (1871-pres.) and perhaps Cleveland (both setups) could create even more parity for lesser franchises (namely Miami, KC, etc.) if those three aforementioned teams join the 3 year limit group. Just a thought...

Re: Cant get enough of those cheate

And Jay that's exactly why I cut down on the amount of fav teams leagues I'm in, because I was running out of ideas quickly. I didn't want to lose interest as a result so I dropped the large quantity of leagues to keep the ideas coming but not going just as quickly. Also for the record, although I currently have one Boston team (1914, 2007, and 2018) I have no Astros teams at the moment. Ironically despite the seemingly large group of PC users who use them, the real life Houston left a VERY sour taste in my mouth, compounded by the fact that any build I DID have always seemed to blow it when it mattered most (specifically during either round of the playoffs) so I have pretty much given up on HOU builds for the time being...

Re: Re: Cant get enough of those cheate

I agree that it would be cool to see a wide variety of teams being used in Favorite Teams format. But, I won't feel guilty if I ever choose to use a HOU or CLE or other powerhouse club, just because they are popular. And, neither should anyone else. Yes, using the same build in 20 leagues is corny, but whoever is doing that is not likely to be swayed by a chat board post..

And, by the by, it's not the same PC'ers talking of the Astros cheating and also using them in Fav Teams, so there isn't any irony afoot. If I talk about not liking hamburgers, and then the Hamburglar steals a truck full of hamburgers, there isn't any irony in my statement. Unless I'm the Hamburglar!

The point is, chiding other PC'ers over their choices isn't worth it unless there's a solution also attached to the perceived problem. Skooler offered a solution, so bringing up the topic was worthwhile.

Re: Cant get enough of those cheaters..

Would it be plausible to let really weak franchises have a 5th season to chose from? Maybe the bottom 5 franchises or so. Essentially the teams would be broken up in to 3 tiers. Just a thought, I don’t play fave teams very much as it takes a ton of research to complete a team.

Re: Re: Cant get enough of those cheate

I believe these teams would be: KCR, TOR, MIA, MIL, COL or PIT.. TBR has finally become a threat in FT leagues. (Won an 1871-present league w them recently) Thanks in large part to 2018 and 2019 and the sea of "openers" they use and the variety of RP's, the dWAR of 2009 infield and Kevin Kiermaier's 5.0+ dWAR 2015 season..

Re: Cant get enough of those cheate

I think adding some kind of franchse tag players wild cards, could be fun and adding a bit more twist to these leagues....

Maybe the possibility of adding 1, 2 or 3 extra players from any year not selected to build the franchise....

Stronger teams would get 1, middle of the pack 2, and weaker teams 3 additional players to be picked from any years.

It should help all teams being competitive...

I do like to play 1965+ fav teams, but some teams are just couple of players short from being competitive despite all possible combinations, White Sox, Royals, Marlins comes to mind... plus even the other franchise would benifit from it and see a additional bunch of combination possible....

+ the duplicated franchise also kills it for me, everytime I join a league, I try to go for an unused franchise... I don't see any fun in 2019 Verlander facing is ownself, + facing the exact same lineup...
