Rivera

Rivera

Congrats on the first ever unanimous induction into the hall of fame. The g.o.a.t.

Next year mr jeter will become the 2nd ever unanimous entrant.

Also congrats to the moos, martines and to doc holiday, r.i.p.

Re: Rivera

Yeah, plenty deserved it before him but it's nice someone finally did it so it's not so taboo anymore, and to a good guy.

Re: Rivera

With all the chatter about Relievers only pitching one inning etc. I was kind of surprised it was unanimous. Not that he didn’t deserve it. But moreso that he was the FIRST ever unanimous vote. Why wouldn’t Ted Williams or Hank Aaron or Rod Carew or a few other greats have been unanimous. Have the voting rules changed? Not sure why someone would have withheld a vote for some of the other great stars of the past when it was their first year of eligibility.

Re: Re: Rivera

yeah, the voters changed. Less cranky old men probably.

Re: Rivera

Hey... What's wrong with cranky old men...

Re: Re: Rivera

Still can't believe three people didn't vote for Griffey

Re: Re: Rivera

Different voters for one. Also with the rule of only picking 10 players some may have assumed hey ted williams is gonna get in so let me leave him off so i can add player x on my ballot. Plus more recent history, some may say hey player x is a hall of famer but maybe i wont vote because he wasnt the bestvplayer ever at his position. With rivera there is no doubt and no debate that he is the greatest closer ever.

Re: Rivera

That's another good point. Voters would leave off the obvious choices so they could add the lesser ones on their list.
