Pete Rose
Pete Rose
So since it’s been a few months since his passing, I will share something that I found on Pete Rose that I thought was interesting.
Not long ago I posted an opinion saying that Pete was an overrated player. I did a little more digging and found this article today.
Baseball: Past and Present
Pete Rose’s Historically Bad Final Seasons.
I’m not trying to start an argument but it seems to be a regular debate in my circle. I know we should move on. Lol. By “overrated” I mean he is more of a “good” player than a “great” player.
Anyway, if you’re interested, check it out. A lot of good info here.

Re: Pete Rose
Not saying one way or another, but I just thought of a player to bring up in
this light.
Albert Pujols. HOF absolutely. But look at the end of his career. I am sure there are a number of players like this. He just popped into my head.
Not saying anything either way about Pete. He is so polarizing.

Re: Re: Pete Rose
How about Ichiro.. He's a lock for this year , was an all time great ofer but if you look at what he did hitting wise , he was Pete v2. He set his career high in runs , doubles , rbi and sb his first season. Never drove in more than 69. For all his speed , he should have had a lot more doubles Living near Seattle , all you would ever hear on sportstalk radio is how he could hit homers if he wanted too , he didn't . He also didn't walk much so his obp was not much higher than his avg .Very good hall of famer , yes , but all time top 25-50 , no.
