4 vs. 5 man playoff rotation

4 vs. 5 man playoff rotation

Is there any consensus among experienced players of the benefits or hazards of going with 4 man rotation in the playoffs or do you just stick with your 5 man rotation you used during the year?

Re: 4 vs. 5 man playoff rotation

A little confused by the question; with the inherent nature of off-days in the playoffs, your #5 starter should never start in the postseason.

Re: Re: 4 vs. 5 man playoff rotation

I thought there were off days (this is my first playoff) but I saw the upcoming schedule and it showed consecutive days (ie 166, 167, 168, 169) so I was not sure if you could go with. 4 man rotation.

Re: 4 vs. 5 man playoff rotation

Off-days are built in on each "travel" day. So your 5th starter will be skipped. Even though the games are listed on consecutive days to come, there are off-days.

Edit: yankeebb has corrected me below. This is incorrect.

Re: 4 vs. 5 man playoff rotation

in Auto leagues the off day is after game 4.

Re: 4 vs. 5 man playoff rotation

I always put my worst starter in as the Long Reliever when the playoffs begin.

That's just me, but I don't risk the slacker being in the starting lineup.

Best thing is to carry a decent RP in the minors and replace your 5th SP with him or even a PR or PH or defensive replacement type. Lots of options. It's why I like to keep a variety of skills in the minors.
