Houston...3 seasons only

Houston...3 seasons only

Wondering if it is time to move Houston to 3 seasons only for My Favorite Teams leagues. Seeing loads of dominant Houston teams out there. Just thinking out loud.

Re: Re: Houston...3 seasons only

probably a good idea revejb. They all cone from basically the same era. I know the Yanks , Giants are on that list. Cant remember the 3rd team of the top of my head. But you could probably make the whole fave teams thing 3 teams. I mean the RedSox, LA, StL. have a lot of seasons to cherry pick from.

Re: Houston...3 seasons only

You could give some franchises 5 or 6 years and they couldn't match what CHC, NYY, LAD, SFG, HOU, BOS, CLE and others can do with three.

Re: Re: Houston...3 seasons only

Agreed, you could give some teams 5 years and they couldn't match HOU 2019 pitching alone

Re: Re: Houston...3 seasons only

Kiddo.. you truly don't know what you're talking about..

Re: Houston...3 seasons only

I can make an argument is similar to with all due respect. You can say anything after that.... like Rick Porcello

Re: Houston...3 seasons only

1st: Waste of space

2nd: Nope Porcello's stats aren't even elite for this site.

3rd: Just Nope...someone else speak.

Re: Re: Houston...3 seasons only

So...just joined a 1965-present Favorites league and HOU is already down as 3 seasons only for 1965 on, because of winning so many Favorite league titles, so looks like gbacci already was clued in to it

Re: Houston...3 seasons only

They're 3 yrs in '65-'19 quite a few clubs are..for a little while now..

They're Still 4yrs in 1871-2019 leagues...

Two entirely different animals.
In 1871-2019 leagues, there's almost a dozen franchises you don't have a prayer with, no matter you build, the players/stats just aren't there.

Re: Re: Houston...3 seasons only

Detroit aren't even in the same stratosphere - planet as the Astros... You can get a fairly good starting rotation with the Tigers with 4 years (McLain,Verlander,Scherzer), but not close to the Astros with only 3 years where they simply carry 5 aces + a lot ofoffensive pop and great bullpen,...

Porcello is more of a bating practice pitcher than anything else in these leagues, 4th and 5th pitcher are often Detroit achilles heel, and Scherzer,Verlander aren't as good or better than any of the top franchises top 3 ... + not a lot of bullpen depth

I play many of these 1965+ leagues, I often get the Tigers to a .600 win pct for the season, but I have always fell short in the playoffs as of yet.... not an easy franchise to win,

As of 1871 + franchise, I avoid to play these leagues like pleague since there is such a lack of depth for possible contenders...

Many times I brought that a certain number of additional franchise tag players from any years to be addded can be a solution to bring all franchise to be contenders, so we don't see the same franchises winning it all everytime... 1 or 2 for top franchise, 3-4 for middle of the pack, 6-5 for bottom of the pack franchises.

Would be nice to see Royals, White Sox, Marlins to be able to compete... and we could also see various possibilities and lineup combinations...and more parity...

Re: Houston...3 seasons only

White Sox, Tigers, Twins, Orioles, Nationals, D'backs, Braves, Mets, Reds, Pirates all winnable in 1871 format..

I won an 1871 ring with the 09-15-18-19 Rays surprisingly..

But it's PHI, CHC, STL, SFG, LAD, BOS, NYY, CLE, OAK, HOU still winning most of the rings..
