As a Cardinal fan I always hated having Angel Hernandez on the same field with Tony LaRussa and after watching this series I now remember why .
Not only is he terrible behind the plate he’s terrible doing first base .
Not why the Yanks lost , but he is still the worst
He was equally bad for both teams - the pitch he rung up Benetindi on with the bases loaded was obviously outside - not even close. And he was giving CC the inside pitch but not the outside. It ended on a bang-bang play that was an out - a lot of close plays at 1B this game.

Re: Re: Umps
I umpired High School and College for 15 years and a bad umpire on a crew make all of you look bad. Every close play, every close pitch, close out or safe call. It only takes a couple of questionable calls for the teams to scream on all the close calls.
But, like The Shiek said, the calls usually go both ways and I have been vary few games where the umpire actually cost a team a game.
You can look back and count the number of mistakes both teams make that contribute to a team winning or losing.
The last out of the game was a out by haft step he make a great called
