Real Life Twins

Real Life Twins

My beloved Minnesota Twins are on some kind of historic roll this season. After 4 more HRs today, they are now on pace to hit 316 HRs this year. The record is 267 by the New York Yankees just last year. The talk before the season was whether the 2019 Yankees would eclipse their record, but with all of their injuries this season, they'll have to wait til next year to try to reach that mark. But the TWINS! Wow! They're not likely to keep this pace up all year long, but it's sure been fun watching them mash away game after game.

I've opened up a Baseball Reference page to compare this year's Twins HR total to all their other HR totals since they became the Twins in 1961. They're climbing their own standings rapidly, passing many other previous Twins' teams already, after just 64 games played. It's historic. You should all probably just stop what you're doing, even stop cheering for your previously loved favorite teams, and jump on the Twins' bandwagon. There's lots of room for you. Come on over!!
(We'll probably still lose to the Yankees in the playoffs, but heh, at least the regular season is lots of fun to watch - reminds me of the good old days with Hrbek, Gaetti, Brunansky, and Puckett - but this year there's HR possibilities at every position, and then some.
Go Twins Go!

Re: Real Life Twins

Gus, you are absolutely right to be so optimistic about how this year has unfolded. On top of the exceptional home run total is the highly unusual starting pitching that has made its presence known as well. You are right, in spite of their strengths, it does appear that even a hobbled, second-string Yankees team is bound to prevent them from making a World Series appearance. It seems to just be the natural order of things. The only area of weakness is the bullpen, but it seems as though options are available to fix that as well. Go Twins!

Re: Real Life Twins

Can you tell the Tigers this? N7dge, nudge, winka, winka, wink, t8gers!

Re: Real Life Twins

Congrats on the Twins! As a Tribe fan it sucks for me, but I would rather it be the Twins over the Tigers or White Sox.

The Tribe contributed to their own demise by cutting salary in the off-season and not adding salary when they only have Lindor for 2.5 more seasons and a great rotation (when healthy). Even if they added salary, I doubt they would be in first place, but they would at least be putting up a fight with the Twins.

At this point, the Twins will win the division and the Indians will be lucky to get the second wildcard spot. Enjoy it while it lasts because the windows for these smaller market teams seems to last 3 years and then is gone.

Re: Real Life Twins

Well, just call the Tigers the Tiggers. Why font they trade Miggy! He is atrocious this year! I still miss Iglesias...

Re: Re: Real Life Twins

It’s hard to trade someone when they’re atrocious. I would imagine.

Re: Real Life Twins

But he's got the name! He is awful this year, but everyone wants the name! Take advantage of it, you tiggers!
