World Series Game 3

About a week ago, Vandelay Industries was fighting for its playoff life, down 2-0 in a best-of-5 wild card series to The Revival. Today, it stands 1 win away from a championship that was unthinkable even a few days ago.

What a time for a 10-game winning streak...

Trot Nixon continued his stellar postseason with a 4-4, 4 RBI morning, all part of a 14-2 thrashing of Who's Your Daddy in Game 3 of the World Series. Troy Glaus and Lance Berkman added home runs for the victors, as they took a commanding 3-0 lead in this best-of-7 championship series.

Vandelay was only 4-11 versus Who's Your Daddy during the regular season, but took 2 of 3 in their last match up.

"That series was really key for us," said Vandelay manager George Costanza. "It proved we could win against these guys. We've been dealing with a lot of lip from them all year, and we simply want to let our play on the field do the talking."

The first two games featured Vandelay's lineup getting to the vaunted Daddy bullpen, which had been lights out against them all year, in taking two close extra-inning affairs. Today, there was no bullpen needed on either side, as Vandelay put it away early with a 5-spot in the 2nd inning.

The much-heralded pitching staff of Who's Your Daddy has allowed 9 home runs in 3 games, while walking 13 to the tune of an 8.48 ERA and 1.72 WHIP.

Cole Hamels gets the ball for Vandelay tonight, as they look to clinch on home turf and avoid having to face Cy Young winner Pedro Martinez in Game 5.

"For us, tonight is everything. We really want to wrap this up tonight," said Costanza. "While we feel good with Johan on the mound tomorrow, they have Pedro, and we do not want to send this back to Brant for Games 6 and 7. Cole has been great for us all season, and we expect him to come through tonight."

Game 4 takes place tonight at 8:00pm EST.

I forgot, it sounds like game was still tied, so the DR wouldn't have been in effect anyway since it's not a "protect the lead" situation.

This is kind of a hard one... if you're in a tie game late, do you want the offensive PH to stay in if he can play the position or not? You could argue either side of it. I could understand why at SS you may want the defensive player, but it can get gray depending on how big the difference is between the players. If you have some slugging pinch hitter who can play the pos as a secondary you may want that hitter's bat in extra innings.
