Got a slumping slugger? Send him to the batting cages!
Last week we rolled out several new features including the new playoff page, long relievers and more strategy options. This week, we're rolling out the latest addition to Auto Leagues: Slump Buster. (Private leagues have the option of turning this on or off.)
Sometimes the simulator is relentlessly cruel to a player in your lineup for no explanable reason. It just happens. You wait patiently for the slump to end, and it never does. Now you can assign that player to extra batting practice, giving him a small stat boost in hopes of turning his luck around.
You can only select one player at a time, and the player must be hitting under .220 with at least 50 at bats to qualify. Keep in mind, there's no guarantee the Slump Buster will work, but at least it tilts the odds in your favor.
I wanted to add an interactive element without artifically altering the sim. I often hear people say they have a helpless feeling when their team is struggling because there's nothing they can do after signing free agents and juggling the lineup. This feature could help correct some of the seemingly unfair slumps, while not being drastic enough to ruin the integrity of the simulation.
Also, box scores are changing so that pinch hitters and defensive subs will be listed under the starter they replaced. (Noticed a bug on this during the 7/10 AM games, this will be fixed for the PM games.)
